Located 30 km from the city centre, Belfast International Airport (BFS) is Northern Ireland’s busiest airport, handling nearly six million passengers a year. Originally built as a training compound for the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War, the airport is now home to a handful of airlines including Ryanair, Jet2, easyJet and Tui, which together offer flights to 60 destinations across 20 countries.

The airport has clear signage displayed throughout the terminal to assist passengers with wheelchairs, and is fully accessible with elevators, ramps, accessible toilets with showers, and family and baby changing rooms.

 

Mobility aids such as wheelchairs and mobile hoists are available, as well as assistant dog relief areas. If you do require special assistance for your journey, make sure you notify your airline at least 48 hours in advance so that airport staff can prepare for your arrival.

Payment can be made at the gate, although booking in advance guarantees a spot and a slightly cheaper rate. Motorbikes can park for free near the car park enquiries office located in the short-stay car park.

Park and Fly at Belfast International Airport is the most expensive option so if you’re picking up someone we recommend using the short-stay lot instead.

Belfast International Airport is a large single-terminal building split across two levels for Arrivals and Departures. The airport offers regular flights to destinations within Britain and Europe, as well as the occasional transatlantic flight to the United States. The Arrivals Hall is located on the Ground Floor, along with the airline check-in counters, while the Departures Area is on the upper floor.
